Por contra, existen otros muchos alimentos ricos en antioxidantes, en una cantidad mucho más elevada y con mayor biodisponibilidad: como el té, las uvas o granadas, los frutos rojos.
El alcohol no tiene un nivel de consumo libre de riesgos de desarrollar enfermedades como pueden ser la hipertensión, ictus y otras patologías cardiacas. Además, aumenta el riesgo de padecer diversos tipos de cáncer como el de mama, colon, esófago o cabeza y cuello. Por ejemplo, una copa de vino (10 gr de alcohol) diaria, aumenta el riesgo de padecer cáncer de mama en un 6%.
La recomendación es evitar el consumo de alcohol, ya que las cantidades de vitaminas, minerales o antioxidantes que nos aporta son insignificantes y, como hemos visto, su consumo continuo se relaciona con un mayor riesgo de enfermedades.
Por lo tanto, si un día nos apetece, estupendo, tomar una copa de vino o una cerveza de vez en cuando no va a tener un cambio significativo en un patrón de alimentación saludable.
Lo que no es adecuado es pensar que beber una copa de vino al día es beneficioso, porque al contrario de lo que se piensa, nos perjudica a nivel de salud y evitar su consumo es la mayor prevención para diversas enfermedades, como por ejemplo, el cáncer.
