¿Qué es y dónde encontrar el omega 3?

Los omega 3 son ácidos grasos poliinsaturados, que el organismo obtiene a través de los alimentos y que aportan diversos beneficios en la prevención y desarrollo de enfermedades. Sin embargo, se estima que hasta el 85% de la población española no llega a la cantidad de omega 3 diaria recomendada.

El omega 3 podemos obtenerlo a través de la dieta con alimentos como:

  • Pescado azul: Salmón, sardinas, atún
  • Frutos secos como las nueces
  • Aceite de oliva
  • Semillas de chía
  • Aguacate

Diversos estudios apuntan a que los omega 3:

  • Previenen el riesgo cardiovascular, ayudando a reducir el colesterol y los triglicérido y la presión arterial.
  • Ayudan en el tratamiento de enfermedades con procesos inflamatorios (ej: artritis reumatoide).
  • Contribuyen a mejorar la respuesta del sistema inmune.
  • Aportan a una mayor protección de las funciones cerebrales, especialmente interesante en enfermedades neurodegenerativas y neuropsiquiátricas como por ejemplo, la depresión.

En los últimos tiempos, el consumo de suplementos omega 3 ha ido en aumento, pero cambiando un poco tus hábitos e incluyéndolos en tu día a día, puedes disfrutar de sus beneficios de manera más económica a través de la alimentación.
